Burrowing Owls https://www.gllangley.com/blog/2019/4/burrowing-owls I have been very fortunate to have Burrowing owls living a few 100 yards from my back door, they make for some fun photography. all of the photos are taken from the cab of my truck, they seem to allow a vehicle but will not tolerate if I approach on foot.

Bosque del Apache Sandhill Cranes in the Dark https://www.gllangley.com/blog/2015/1/bosque-del-apache-sandhill-cranes-in-the-dark My son in law and I made our almost annual trip to Bosque del Apache wildlife refuge near Socorro New Mexico  last week, The bird numbers were way down from normal years but we managed to fine enough to keep us busy shooting. On the last morning we arrived well before sunrise and could hear the birds but couldn't see them, I tried to focus somewhere in the dark and with camera on tripod took a 2 second exposure, after several attempts to guess at focus I finally got this shot. I'm always amazed how a digital camera can find light in the dark.

Photographing Eagles........ Trying To ! https://www.gllangley.com/blog/2014/2/photographing-eagles-trying-to We went out to try and photograph the Bald Eagles that are here for the winter, we took a portable blind and set it up near some cottonwood trees that we had seen them sitting in before, they are so skittish that we flushed two as we walked in. We sat for about an hour and saw nothing. Getting restless we got out of the blind and no sooner looked up and this young eagle flew right over us!   Ya just never know !

Misty Morning Sunrise on the Madison River https://www.gllangley.com/blog/2014/2/misty-morning-sunrise-on-the-madison-river Madison River Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, USA

I rose early, for the third day in a row, in order capture some shots of the elk that frequently populate river in the mornings. Since my previous attempts had been unsuccessful, I began to wonder why I should bother. Then suddenly I realized, I don’t get that many chances to photograph in Yellowstone, and I won’t  know what I may be missing if I don’t get up and go!

The Madison has several hot water springs  that run into the cold river and create a beautiful steamy fog. I was the first to arrive that morning and it was quite a surreal setting. I felt alone in the wilderness; peaceful and solitary in my own natural utopia. I was enjoying the crisp September air and the warmth of the rising sun when I captured this scene.

I hope that other people can view this photo and experience the feeling of being alone with the early morning fog, in the stillness of nature at peace in the dawn of a new day

I shot this scene with a Nikon D3S camera with a Nikon 200-400 mm f4 telephoto lens, on a Gitzo tripod with a Wimberley head. 1/160 @ f4 ISO 200   -.33 ev, aperture priority

This big Bull came thru one morning looking for a mate, I spent an hour photographing him before he crossed the river and disappeared. I found out recently his name was Gaston, the locals have given them names and I really enjoyed my morning with Gaston, hope to see him next year ! MooseMoose

I guess I'm Crazy https://www.gllangley.com/blog/2013/10/i-guess-im-crazy I guess I'm crazy, ever year I go up to the Tetons and my family just shake their heads and think again, how many times can you go up there, this year I kinda wondered myself why I keep going back. Then one morning you get up before daylight and drive to the Ox Bow and the sun starts coming up and I remember why.
